Shells, jazz and meteorites

For the exhibition at Tahmelan huvila villa I made five new drawings. I bought new pigment ink pens with fantastic colors. It's nice to draw very detailed works for a change. In this spring I concentrated more on watercolor-pencil works. Pigment ink pens are very good for my technique: I make lots of dots and liquid pigment ink is coming out very easily and smoothly. I don't need to press much the pen.

I have a fractal mood going on, lots of fractals coming almost to every work. There is microcosmos and macrocosmos appearing at the same time. Cell's life is similar cycle of life and about rotating movement as the movements in the Universe. Everything is bound together. Shell is like a miniatyr of the Universe.

There are also some musical elements in my art. Some lines look to me like note lines. Or sound waves. I'm drawing the motion of the sound that is being created somewhere and it's pushing its way somewhere. Some of the sound waves are more silent and some very loud. In Essence of the Shell, the music is clinging and classical.

In Baroque Apparition the music is super chaotic like in modern jazz; sounds bounce restlessly everywhere around. (Sorry people who love modern jazz.:)

In Meteorites brought the life in first cells, the music is very strong and there are different sound waves. The one in the upper side is like a kardiogram, showing the beat of a heart. Heartbeat is the most important rhythm in our life. It is also the first one we hear inside the uterus. Shaman drum's beat is a bit similar, it takes us to our primitive form.

I create the names for the works when they are finished. The name is like I see the picture. In the Meteorite drawing I strongly felt that there is cell-life and planetary movements going on at the same time (as well as sound waves). I have read a scientific article about the possibility that cells got their life from the proteins in meteorites. For example this article in Scientific American:

"Part of the scientific mystery of how life emerged is the origin of chemical building blocks: Were they created by chemical reactions on Earth or did they, perhaps, hitch rides on meteorites that may have germinated our and other planets in our solar system with the same molecules? By studying meteorite fragments, such as those that fell in 1969 near the town of Murchison, in the southeastern Australian state of Victoria, researchers have learned that they contain carbon-based compounds that most likely formed in space, including sugars and amino acids."

Some of my works have lines that remind me of mycelium. It's spreading its lines around and it's growing inside the soil. The secret microcosmos under our feet. Mycelium is connecting mushrooms to vegetation and to trees and they create symbiotic lives. Everything is connected.

After I started to make these visionary drawings in July 2020, I have felt stronger understanding about the Great Connection between everything. Nature is a miraculous mystery where everything has its meaning. We human beings are connected with everything too. Human's senses are just too poor to detect lighter information. It's easy to say, that "If I can't hear, see, taste, touch or smell it, it doesn't exist". Religions are telling the same story but with a bit different twist. There is a bigger explanation about everything. It's somewhere between the religions and science. The secret code is in our DNA.
